2025 I-131 Antech Study
Dr. Mark Peterson, DVM, DIP. ACVIM, founder of the Animal Endocrine Clinic in NY, is collaborating with Dr. Lucy on a new I-131 study.
This study is to determine the efficacy of the radioiodine treatment and will enroll up to 50 felines. The I-131 protocol will remain the same and all patients will have a regimented dosing plan.
Benefits
The benefit of participating in this study is that it covers the cost of the pre-op bloodwork: CBC, Chemistry, Urinalysis, and full thyroid panel as well as the follow-up bloodwork post-treatment at the following recheck appointments: 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months. A savings of around $2,000. The cost of the consult or any other required testing such as chest x-rays are not included.
Please note, clients must come to OAH for the pre and post-op bloodwork to be eligible for this study.
All bloodwork will be processed under Dr. Peterson’s Antech account and all results will be forwarded to OAH. Should a client ask, Dr. Peterson will only be accessing the patient information and lab results, not any personal client information.
Ineligible Patients
Only patients with a T4 > or = to 4 and < or = to 20 will be eligible for this study. Any patients with a creatinine > 2 (azotemic) pre-treatment will be ineligible for this study.
If you have any specific questions about enrollment criteria, please call us at 201-262-0010 ext. 150 or send a task to the I-131 group. Thank you!
